Kosciusko
Officers with the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office investigated the following accidents:
8:22 a.m. Tuesday, March 26, West CR 900S, east of South CR 825W, Mentone. Driver: Ashley R. Craft, 35, South CR 825W, Akron. Craft’s vehicle struck a mailbox. Damage up to $10,000.
8:07 a.m. Tuesday, March 26, North SR 15 and West CR 900N, Milford. Drivers: Nestor I. Feliciano, 24, Lakeland Drive, Warsaw; and Jodi S. White, 35, EMS T7A Lane, Leesburg.The vehicles collided at the intersection. Feliciano complained of shoulder pain. White reported head pain. Damage up to $50,000.
9:13 p.m. Monday, March 25, West CR 900N, east of North CR 700W, Nappanee. Driver: Lloyd J. Belongia, 38, West CR 300N, Etna Green. Belongia stated that he was traveling east on CR 900N when two horses entered the roadway. Belongia’s vehicle struck the horses. Belongia complained of chest pain. Both horses were killed. Belongia refused EMS but was transported to a local hospital by a family member. Damage up to $50,000.
8:19 p.m. Monday, March 25, Pickwick Drive, east of Lakeside Drive, Syracuse. Drivers: Jaemeson W. Gee, 27, Memorial Parkway, Cromwell; and Nicholas A. Newcomer, 21, North CR 825E, Syracuse. Gee stated he was driving west on Pickwick Drive when the front left tire came off his vehicle. Newcomer stated he was driving east on Pickwick Drive when a tire entered his path of travel, and he was unable to avoid striking the tire. Damage up to $5,000.
3:13 p.m. Monday, March 25, SR 13, south of Southshore Drive, Syracuse. Drivers: Isabelle Kloss, 18, Genesee Lane, Cromwell; and Ryan L. Smith, 31, Asbury Lane, North Webster. Kloss’ vehicle rear-ended Smith’s vehicle. Damage up to $10,000.
Pierceton
Officers with the Pierceton Police Department investigated the following accident:
8:47 a.m. Thursday, March 21, East Market Street and South Washington Street, Pierceton. Drivers: Bart D. Jones, 58, South CR 500E, Pierceton; and Gabriel J. Tribbett, 35, Ellsworth Street, Columbia City. Jones advised he was traveling west on Market Street operating a garbage truck. He stated he crossed left of center, attempting to swing wide to the left, then back to the right to pick up a garbage can. Jones advised he did not notice Tribbett’s vehicle following him. Tribbett’s vehicle continued traveling west, passing the garbage truck. When Jones turned back to the right, his vehicle collided with Tribbett’s vehicle. Damage up to $2,500.
Warsaw
Officers with the Warsaw Police Department investigated the following accidents:
4:34 p.m. Tuesday, March 26, Shelden Street and West CR 300N, Warsaw. Drivers: Todd E. Wilkinson, 52, Lakeview Drive, Warsaw; and David L. Smith, 83, Arlington Lane, Warsaw. Wilkinson advised he was making a left turn and did not see Smith’s vehicle. Smith stated he came to a complete stop at the intersection and was waiting at the stop when his vehicle was struck by Wilkinson’s vehicle. A passenger in Smith’s vehicle, Treva Smith, 84, Arlington Lane, Warsaw, was transported to Kosciusko Community Hospital for complaint of neck pain. Damage up to $5,000.
3:01 p.m. Tuesday, March 26, Lake City Highway, Warsaw. Drivers: Katherine L. Scott, 33, Parks Schram Road, Warsaw; and Nathan D. Olinger, 39, Oakwood Drive, Warsaw. The vehicles collided as Scott was pulling out of a parking lot onto Meijer Drive, and Olinger was pulling out of another parking lot. Damage up to $2,500.
2:47 p.m. Tuesday, March 26, SR 15, north of Anchorage Road, Warsaw. Drivers: Elaine D. Bertsch, 82, Chapman Lake Drive, Warsaw; and Aaron T. Richard, 32, Oldfather Street, Warsaw. Richard stated he was driving south on SR 15 and waiting in the middle of the intersection to turn left onto Anchorage Road. He stated the light had just turned red for the north/south traffic so he started to make a left turn. According to Richard, Bertsch’s vehicle proceeded through the intersection driving north on SR 15 and struck his vehicle head-on. Bertsch was transported to Kosciusko Community Hospital by EMS to be treated for her injuries, which included minor facial bleeding. A passenger in Bertsch’s vehicle, Lewis M. Bertsch, 94, Chapman Lake Drive, Warsaw, was transported to KCH by EMS for minor bleeding and pain in the elbow/lower arm. Damage up to $25,000.
