Warsaw Woman Arrested After Allegedly Stealing From Employer
WARSAW — A Warsaw female was arrested after allegedly stealing approximately $6,000 from her employer.
Jolene Marie Swihart, 36, 521 Clinic Court, Warsaw, is being charged with theft, a level 6 felony.
According to the affidavit of probable cause, on Feb. 19, an officer with the Warsaw City Police Department was dispatched to the Dollar General store in reference to a theft. Upon arrival, the officer met with the loss prevention manager at Dollar General.
The loss prevention manager informed police that Swihart, an employee at Dollar General, had been stealing money from Dollar General for approximately one year. He stated she did this by crediting her personal credit card from fraudulent returns, underpricing items she purchased and performing fraudulent returns for others.
The loss prevention manager estimated that Swihart stole approximately $6,000 over the past year.
Swihart was taken to the Warsaw Police Department where she allegedly admitted to taking money from Dollar General; however, she stated it was closer to $2,000. She admitted to making false returns of items she ever purchased and to crediting return funds to her personal credit card.
Swihart was booked at the Kosciusko County Jail Friday, March 22, on a $3,000 surety and cash bond.
