Kosciusko
Officers with the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office investigated the following accident:
7:49 a.m. Monday, March 11, North CR 650W, south of West Wallace Road, Warsaw. Driver: Morgan L. Bennett, 26, North CR 650W, Warsaw. Bennett was traveling north on CR 650W when a deer entered the roadway. As she swerved her vehicle to avoid striking the deer, Bennett’s vehicle left the roadway and struck a REMC utility pole. Bennett stated she was only shaken and not injured. EMS made the scene but did not transport Bennett to the hospital. Damage up to $25,000.
Mentone
Officers with the Mentone Police Department investigated the following accident:
7:40 p.m. Thursday, March 7, SR 25, west of CR 1150W, Mentone. Driver: Sonia Y. Roche, 33, Chamberlin Drive, Warsaw. Roche was traveling east on SR 25 when a deer entered the roadway. Damage up to $5,000.
North Webster
Officers with the North Webster Police Department investigated the following accident:
7:19 p.m. Sunday, March 10, North SR 13, south of East CR 500N, North Webster. Drivers: Kattie L. Wade, 27, Chinworth Court B., Warsaw; and Devin J. Sims, 23, South CR 700E, Pierceton. Both vehicles were traveling northbound on North SR 13 when Wade’s vehicle rear-ended Sims’. Wade said she was not injured but that her left hand was sore. Damage up to $5,000.
Syracuse
Officers with the Syracuse Police Department investigated the following accidents:
1:59 p.m. Thursday, March 7, 730 S. Huntington St., Syracuse. Driver: David J. Keiling, 72, North Broadway Street, Mentone. Keiling was traveling south in a parking lot when he rear-ended a parked, unoccupied vehicle. Damage up to $1,000.
1:02 p.m. Thursday, March 7, 1001 W. Brooklyn St., Syracuse. Drivers: Andee L. Kettlebar, 37, Little Eagle Creek Avenue, Westfield; and Zachary D. Hunter, 19, North Woodland Acres Drive, Syracuse. Kettlebar was backing her vehicle and did not see Hunter’s vehicle behind her backing up at the same time. Damage up to $1,000.
10:49 a.m. Thursday, March 7, South Huntington Street, north of East Palm Drive, Syracuse. Drivers: Ethel L. Yoder, 80, North Camelot Drive, Milford; and Jeffery L. Truex, 63, Division Street, Goshen. Yoder was traveling on East Palm Drive when she pulled out onto South Huntington Street, rear-ending Truex’s vehicle. Damage up to $5,000.
Warsaw
Officers with the Warsaw Police Department investigated the following accidents:
7:26 a.m. Monday, March 11, US 30, west of East CR 200N, Warsaw. Driver: Kimmi J. Timmons, 49, East CR 400N, Warsaw. Timmons was traveling through an intersection when the rear end of her vehicle broke free from the road. This caused Timmons to lose control of her vehicle. Her vehicle ended up rolling down an embankment two times. The portion of the roadway where Timmons lost control of her vehicle was covered by frozen water from a previous accident. She was transported to Parkview Hospital to be evaluated by medical personnel. Damage up to $25,000.
6:30 a.m. Monday, March 11, East US 30, west of East CR 200N, Warsaw. Drivers: James T. Goins, 64, Lake Howard Road, La Fayette, Ga.; and R. E. Cotner, 64, West CR 400S, Winamac. Goins was traveling east on East US 30 in the right travel lane, approaching the intersection of East CR 200N. As he approached the intersection, Cotner’s vehicle was stopped at the traffic light. Goins was unable to avoid a collision and struck the rear left side of Cotner’s vehicle. Goins’ vehicle then continued into the median of East US 30 and then into the westbound lanes of travel. His vehicle then continued off the north side of East US 30, onto East CR 200N and into a ditch, overturning onto its driver’s side. Goins sustained a small cut to his forehead and was checked out on scene by Lutheran EMS. A passenger in Goins’ vehicle, Crystal L. Goins, 49, La Fayette, Ga., said she was in the sleeper berth of the truck when the accident occurred and did not know what happened. She and Cotner sustained no injuries in the accident. Damage up to $100,000.
