KOSCIUSKO — The Kosciusko County Alcoholic Beverage Board renewed 10 permits and approved a permit transfer for a new Mentone restaurant during its meeting Thursday, March 7.

Elisabeth Thompson, Mentone, was present at the meeting for the transfer. The permit is being transferred from Bulldog Saloon. According to Thompson, Bulldog Saloon was in possession of two different types of alcohol permits after purchasing a two-way license from a bar that was destroyed in a fire.

The two-way license has been in escrow for six years. Thompson presented a letter from the Indiana Alcohol Tobacco Commission approving the transfer.

“This is a very unique situation,” said Excise Officer April Tackett.

Board President Elim Smith asked Thompson what type of restaurant she will run and where it will be located. Thompson said it will have pizza and craft beer. She will either rent a current building in town or build a new one.

The board approved the transfer for one year. Thompson is required to report back in a year’s time regarding progress on her new establishment.

The following permits were renewed:

• Wilby’s Inc., doing business as Wilby’s Gas and Goodies, 1200 S. Huntington St., Syracuse. Beer and wine dealer – grocery store.
• Walgreen Co., doing business as Walgreen #7906, 2400 E. Center St., Warsaw. Beer, wine and liquor – drug store.
• Dolgencorp LLC, doing business as Dollar General Store #7654, 9554 W. SR 25, Mentone. Beer and wine dealer – grocery store.
• Loyal Order of Moose 1423, doing business as L.O.O.M. #1423, 1815 W. Lake St., P.O. Box 261, Warsaw. Beer, wine and liquor – fraternal club.
• R.P. Watters Corporation, doing business as Rex’s Rendezvous, 204 S. Buffalo St., Warsaw. Beer, wine and liquor – restaurant.
• Sleepy Owl Supper Club, 11374 N. SR 13, Syracuse. Beer, wine and liquor – restaurant.
• Mi Lindo Acapulco Restaurant, 217 E. Center St., Warsaw. Beer, wine and liquor – restaurant.
• Little Tomato Inc., doing business as Westmain Tavern, 201 W. Main St., Syracuse. Beer, wine and liquor – riverfront.
• RMH Franchise Corporation, doing business as Applebee’s Neighborhood Bar and Grill, 2621 E. Center St., Warsaw. Beer, wine and liquor – restaurant.
• South Shore Golf Club, 10601 N. SR 13, Syracuse. Beer, wine and liquor – restaurant.

The board’s next meeting will take place at 1 p.m. Thursday, April 4, in the Kosciusko County courthouse.
