Stutsman Lands All-American Status
BROOKINGS, S.D. – It was a good start for Erica Stutsman’s track career at Indiana Wesleyan.
Stutsman, a freshman at Wesleyan and NorthWood graduate, was part of a record setting 4×800 relay for the Wildcats, which finished as runner-up at the NAIA Nationals this weekend. Stutsman, Kendra Frieden, Sterling Simek and Jessica Sprinkles ran a 9:15.65 to place second, setting the school record in the process. The performance earned the relay team All-American status.
Meanwhile, Isaac Brown represented Grace at the championships.
Brown finished in a tie for 10th place in the high jump competition as a freshman. He cleared 6-feet-7.5 feet on his first attempt for a 10th-place showing.
“We were hoping for a top-8 finish (All-American). It just wasn’t meant to be today,” said Grace head coach Jeff Raymond. “Isaac has had a fantastic freshman season, and he will do some special things for our program in the coming years.”
Grace will take a few weeks off from competition before starting the outdoor season at the IWU Polar Bear Meet on March 23.
