Kosciusko
Officers from the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office investigated the following accidents:
4:16 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 23, West CR 300N, west of North SR 15, Warsaw. Driver: Jose V. Hernandez, 40, East Old Road 30, Warsaw. Hernandez told police he was driving his vehicle westbound on CR 300N when a tree limb fell into the roadway. He told police he was unable to avoid hitting the limb with his vehicle. Damage up to $2,500.
7:54 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 23, East Bowser Road, south of North CR 375E, Syracuse. Driver: Kaleena R. Bays, 24, North Prairie Street, Warsaw. Bays told police she was driving her vehicle eastbound on Bowser Road when her vehicle left the roadway at a curve and came to rest in a field. Damage up to $2,500.
11:02 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 23, East CR 450N, west of North CR 175E, Warsaw. Driver: Anna C. Richardson, 21, South SR 19, Mentone. Richardson told police she was driving her vehicle westbound on CR 450N and was looking down when her vehicle struck a utility pole. She complained of pain and was treated at the scene by medical professionals, but declined transport to the hospital. Damage up to $10,000.
6:33 a.m. Friday, Feb. 22, South CR 1000W, north of West CR 1000S, Akron. Driver: David L. Thorpe, 40, Adams Avenue, Peru. Thorpe told police he was driving his vehicle northbound on CR 1000W when a deer entered the roadway. He told police he was unable to avoid hitting the deer with his vehicle. Damage up to $2,500.
6:07 a.m. Friday, Feb. 22, North SR 13, north of East Old Road 30, Pierceton. Driver: Lynn H. Duggins, 59, West CR 700S, Claypool. Duggins told police he was driving his vehicle northbound on SR 13 when a deer entered the roadway. He told police he was unable to avoid hitting the deer with his vehicle. Damage up to $10,000.
6:16 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 21, North SR 15, and West Waubee Road, Milford. Drivers: Terry W. Biltz, 71, Jefferson Street, Rochester; Jeffrey S. Harvey, 54, Barrens Drive, Goshen. Biltz told police he was driving his vehicle southbound on SR 15 and attempted to pass the vehicle driven by Harvey on the left. He said as he was passing, Harvey’s vehicle turned into his path, causing the collision. Harvey told police he was stopped to make a left turn and had his turn signal engaged. Damage up to $5,000.
5:59 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 21, South Detroit Street and East Winona Avenue, Warsaw. Drivers: Alivia L. Taylor, 17, North CR 750W, Warsaw; Jillian N. Inlow, 36, Lincolnway West, Ligonier. Police reported that Taylor was facing south in her vehicle, turning east on Winona Avenue and struck Inlow’s vehicle with hers. Both drivers complained of pain, but declined medical treatment. Damage up to $5,000.
Claypool
Officers from the Claypool Police Department investigated the following accident:
6:28 a.m. Friday, Feb. 22, Country Club Road, south of CR 400S, Claypool. Driver: James C. Shuster, 26, East CR 800S, Claypool. Shuster told police he was driving his vehicle northbound on Country Club Road when two deer entered the roadway. He said in swerving to avoid the deer, his vehicle skidded sideways and left the roadway, first striking a wooden post in a yard, then a tree stump, which uprooted and lodged into the side of a house. He said his vehicle continued to slide sideways and collided with a parked car in a driveway. Shuster told police he did not have insurance and was cited for the infraction. Damage up to $25,000.
North Webster
Officers from the North Webster Police Department investigated the following accident:
1:23 p.m Sunday, Feb. 24, North SR 13, south of North CR 900N, Syracuse. Drivers: Norma E. Monik, 68, Hatchery Road, Syracuse; Karen S. Pope, 64, Country Cove Drive, Syracuse. Monik told police she was driving her vehicle northbound and stated the winds were strong. Pope told police she was approaching Monik’s vehicle from the opposite direction when Monik’s vehicle crossed the center line and although she swerved to avoid a collision, Monik’s vehicle struck her bumper. Damage up to $5,000.
Warsaw
Officers from the Warsaw Police Department investigated the following accidents:
10:45 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 23, US 30 and CR 200N, Warsaw. Drivers: Elizabeth G. Sexton, 29, Pleasant Street, Etna Green; Elizabeth S. Honeycutt, 23, North CR 175E, Warsaw. Sexton told police she was driving her vehicle westbound on US 30 and was talking to her passenger when she entered the intersection. Honeycutt told police she entered the intersection on a green light and was traveling southbound. Sexton’s vehicle struck Honeycutt’s vehicle in the left rear. Damage up to $10,000.
8:46 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 23, SR 15, north of Kincaide Street, Warsaw. Drivers: Jennifer M. Slabaugh, 24, South Main Street, North Webster; Harold Lee, 61, Bellevue, Fla. Slabaugh told police she was driving her vehicle eastbound on Kincaide Street and stopped at the intersection with SR 15. She said she did not see the vehicle driven by Lee and pulled her vehicle into his path, causing the collision. Damage up to $5,000.
7:21 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 23, North SR 15, south of West CR 350N, Warsaw. Drivers: Tony E. Nunley, 31, North Clark Street, Markle; Alana A. Stuckman, 44, CR 21, Goshen. Nunley told police he was driving his vehicle westbound on CR 350N and began turning left at the intersection with SR 15 when his vehicle was struck by the vehicle driven by Stuckman. Damage up to $5,000.
2:02 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 23, Husky Trail, Warsaw. Driver: Grace V. Revere, 18, Lydia Drive, Warsaw. Revere told police she was turning her vehicle into a parking space at Martin’s Supermarket and misjudged the turn, causing her vehicle to strike a parked vehicle. Damage up to $5,000.
12:44 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 23, East US 30, and North Parker Street, Warsaw. Drivers: Sokun Seraypheap, 51, East 8 Square Road, Warsaw; Zari Silvestre, 21, College Avenue, Goshen. Seraypheap told police she was driving her vehicle northbound on North Parker Street and had a green light to cross US 30 but did not see the police vehicle with emergency lights that was directing traffic for a funeral processional. She said she proceeded into the intersection and was struck by the vehicle driven by Silvestre. Seraypheap’s vehicle rolled onto its top. Seraypheap was transported to Kosciusko Community Hospital with head, chest and hand injuries. Silvestre, as well as three passengers in her vehicle, was transported to KCH with injuries. Damage up to $50,000.
11:44 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 23, Walton Boulevard, Warsaw. Drivers: Ashley B. Singleton, 37, South CR 400W, Claypool; Brian S. Poe, 47, East CR 350N, Warsaw. Singleton told police she was backing out of a parking space in her vehicle and did not see Poe’s vehicle, causing the collision. Damage up to $5,000.
4:58 p.m. Friday, Feb. 22, SR 15, north of Prairie Street, Warsaw. Drivers: Noah T. Hutton, 19, East Clark Street, Warsaw; David E. Porter, 41, Auditorium Boulevard, Winona Lake; Sydney E. Abbott, 20, South Morgantown Road, Greenwood. Hutton told police he was driving his vehicle southbound on SR 15 and looked briefly to his right. He said when he looked forward again, vehicles were stopped in front of him and he was unable to stop his vehicle before it struck the rear of Porter’s vehicle, which in turn struck the vehicle driven by Abbott. Damage up to $2,500.
10:56 a.m. Friday, Feb. 22, North Detroit Street and East Center Street, Warsaw. Drivers: Richard J. Camp, 51, South Elizabeth Street, Lombard, Ill.; Lester Calhoun, 76, East Fort Wayne Street, Warsaw. Camp told police he was driving his vehicle northbound on North Detroit Street when he attempted to stop his vehicle, but was unsuccessful before it collided with the rear of the vehicle driven by Calhoun. Damage up to $2,500.
