WARSAW – Add another honor to Delaney Wihebrink’s list of swim accomplishments.
The Warsaw senior was tabbed Second Team All-State by the Indiana Coaches of Girls Sports Association. Her third-place finish in the breaststroke at the IHSAA State Finals of 1:03.06 broke Warsaw’s school record.
Wihebrink, who has signed to swim collegiately at Grand Valley State University, also swam in both the medley relay and 200 free relays at state this season and was a four-year state qualifier for Warsaw. She leaves the school as the highest-placing female (third) in Warsaw girls swim history.
The ICGSA recognized Elsa Fretz of Northridge and the South Bend St. Joseph’s duo of Asilinn Walsh and Mary Catherine Pruitt as First Team All-State. Fretz was the champion of the 50 freestyle and also placed second in the 100 free, and helped Ridge to fourth in both the 200 free relay and 400 free relay in a monster day for the Raider sophomore. Walsh’s top effort was second in the breaststroke, outdueling Wihebrink to the wall in the last 25 of the championship, and Pruitt was the state’s 500 freestyle champion.
Second Team All-State included Northridge’s Kenzie Weber, Haley Dygert, Jenna Nethercutt and Ingrid Fretz, St. Joe’s Emma Feltzer and Evelyn Sierra, and Penn’s Madilyn Ziegert.
