Demetris Emon Jennings Jr.
Demetris Emon Jennings Jr., 29, 146 Laporte Ave. 1, South Bend, is being charged with acquiring a controlled substance by fraud, a level 6 felony, and counterfeiting, a level 6 felony.
On Dec. 24, 2018, an officer with the Warsaw Police Department responded to a prescription fraud report at the local CVS Pharmacy. The pharmacist told the officer that on Dec. 21, a male subject presented a fraudulent prescription with the name Demetris Emon Jennings Jr., for 90 pills of Oxycodone, a schedule II controlled substance. The prescription was signed with a doctors name but the pharmacist advised he knew the prescription was fraudulent because it was issued by a health center that does not exist.
The officer obtained video surveillance and photographs of the male subject that presented the fraudulent prescription. The images were compared to a BMV photograph of Jennings and a previous St. Joseph County jail booking photo and it was discovered that Jennings put his own name on the prescription.
The officer also spoke with the manager of the actual health center the doctor whose name was signed on the prescription worked at. The manager advised that the doctor’s signature was forged and that the doctor did not give permission or consent for the prescription.
Jennings was booked into the Kosciusko County Jail on Feb. 20, with a $5,250 surety and cash bond.
