Warsaw Earns Road Win At Lakeland
LAGRANGE – Warsaw had its streak of 100-point meets end, but still put together enough to defeat Lakeland 99.725-95.6 Monday night in a make-up meet at Lakeland.
Warsaw hadn’t dipped below 100 since the first meet of the season when it scored 97.6 in a win at East Noble, but did enough to notch its fourth win of the season.
Remi Beckham outgunned Whittney Ray for top gymnast of the night, the Tiger senior scoring a 34.925 in all-around to best Ray’s 34.65. Ray would score the top figures in vault (9.0), beam (8.75) and floor (9.35), but Beckham was right behind her with an 8.8, 8.35 and 9.325 in each event. The two flipped on bars, which made up the difference, as Beckham scored 8.35 to Ray’s 7.55, the .8 advantage for Beckham there overlapping the gap on the other three events.
Warsaw had too much from its group for Lakeland to keep up in the team scoring. Adree Beckham and Daylen Turner tied for fourth on vault at 8.65, Sydni Purvis was third and Turner fourth on bars at 7.325 and 7.225, Purvis was third on beam at 7.95 and Turner fourth at 7.85, and Turner was fourth on floor at 8.65.
Turner had a 32.4 for third in all-around and Purvis was right behind in fourth at 31.9.
Kaila Malaivanh was third on vault for the Lakers at 8.75 and third on floor at 8.95.
JV work saw Julianne Olson score 7.9 on vault, 7.15 on beam and 7.4 on floor for the Tigers.
Warsaw wraps up its regular season 4-1 overall and will begin prep for this Saturday’s Wawasee Gymnastics Sectional.
