Police Say Warsaw Man Punched Pregnant Woman In Stomach
WARSAW — A Warsaw man was arrested and booked after police say he argued with a pregnant woman, then punched her twice in the head and once in the stomach.
Lance Michael Jervis, 29, 1121 E. Wellington Drive, Warsaw, is charged with domestic battery to a pregnant woman, a level 5 felony; domestic battery with a child younger than 16 present, a level 6 felony; and domestic battery, a class A misdemeanor.
According to deputies from the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office, officers responded to a domestic incident inside the county jurisdiction on Feb. 9. When police arrived on the scene, they talked to a woman who told police she was struck once in the stomach and twice on the head by Jervis. She added that Jervis told her he wanted her baby to die.
Officers reported that three minor children were present during the incident and at least one of those children corroborated the woman’s account of the incident. Another witness, Jervis’ sister, told police she could hear the argument but did not see any of the incident transpire.
Police reported taking photographs of the woman’s stomach and face area, which they noted were red.
According to court documents, Jervis has been released on his own recognizance, but is scheduled to appear at 8:15 a.m. in Kosciusko County Superior Court 1 on Feb. 28.
