County Clerk Announces Changes in Voting Locations
KOSCIUSKO — Center Lake Pavilion will be the place to be on Election Day in Warsaw.
Kosciusko County Clerk Ann Torpy announced Thursday, Feb. 14, that all voters participating in Warsaw’s primary and general elections will cast ballots at the pavilion.
Consolidating the voting location has been done in the past, Torpy said.
Officials expect a lower voter turnout this year, compared to previous city elections when the school district had a public question on the ballot.
In the 2015 fall election, about 843 votes were cast and Torpy said she expects a similar number of voters casting ballots in the city elections this year.
The pavilion will be stocked with 15 voting machines, she said.
The city reimburses the county for voting expenses and can save money by using a city-owned location, rather than renting private property for voting sites, she said.
All voters will return to their normal polling location in the 2020 Election Year, she said in a prepared statement.
Except for two precincts, boundary lines for precincts in Warsaw have been adjusted to match city council districts, Torpy said.
The move should reduce confusion, she said.
That process began in 2013 when the city of Warsaw provided the Kosciusko County Clerk information regarding their city council line redistricting. In 2018, the Kosciusko County Clerk presented to the Indiana Election Division for approval of new precinct boundary lines to follow the city’s council districts.
Torpy also announced changes for the upcoming elections in Winona Lake and Syracuse
- Winona Lake voters who voted at Winona Lake Grace Brethren Church, will vote at the Winona Lake Senior Center for this year’s town election. They will return to the church in the 2020 election year.
- Syracuse voters who voted at St. Andrew’s Church, will now vote at the Syracuse Community Center. They will continue to vote at the community center in all future elections.
