Police Say Milford Woman Passed Fake Fifty
MILFORD — A Milford woman faces a charge of counterfeiting after an employee of the Friendly Express Mart in Milford told police the woman used a bogus $50 bill at the convenience store back in November 2018.
Katarzyna Johnson, 37, 427 East CR 1150N, No. 2, Milford, is charged with counterfeiting, a level 6 felony and theft, a class A misdemeanor. She was booked in the Kosciusko County Jail on Feb. 5 on $5,250 surety and cash bond.
According to the affidavit of probable cause, an employee of the Milford convenience store contacted the Milford Police Department on Nov. 9, 2018, regarding the passing of a counterfeit $50 bill. The employee told police that after she realized the bill was fake, she checked surveillance video and identified Johnson as the person who passed the bill. Police reported double-checking the video and confirmed the identification. Police also took the bill to Lake City Bank to confirm the bill’s counterfeit status.
A warrant was then issued for Johnson’s arrest.
