Warsaw Woman Arrested For Intimidating, Threatening Retired Tigers Residents
WARSAW — A Warsaw woman was arrested after allegedly intimidating and threatening residents at Retired Tigers.
Janice Sue Miller, 55, 320 W. Main St. 325, Warsaw, is being charged with invasion of privacy, a class A misdemeanor; and intimidation.
In January, officers with the Warsaw Police Department responded to several calls for service at Retired Tigers Apartments regarding issues with one of the residents.
On Jan. 25, a female subject, identified as Miller, was in the lobby of the apartment complex, yelling racial slurs at other residents. Earlier in the morning, Miller left derogatory handwritten notes on the public bulletin board and coffee table. One note contained a racial slur. Another note by Miller read “You stupid lazy people better get up off your lazy a**** and work! Trump won’t put up with it!” She went back to her room after she was told the police were being called.
Later that morning, Miller cursed and screamed at a resident in a hallway. Miller then went back to the lobby a couple hours later, cursing and screaming at residents.
According to the affidavit of probable cause, on that same day, an officer with the Warsaw Police Department spoke with the property manager for Retired Tigers and discussed complaints filed by other residents against Miller. Some of the complaints stated that residents were scared of Miller and worried about what she would do next. According to residents’ statements, Miller stayed up all hours of the evening, banging on doors and upsetting the peace of the community. Residents said they were afraid to report her actions to the police, fearing only retaliation would result from their complaints.
According to the property manager, management filed for Miller to be evicted from the property. Officers spoke with Miller and advised her that the disrespectful treatment of other residents was not going to be tolerated. Miller admitted to falling off her prescribed medication schedule due to her excessive drinking.
Officers also investigated call history on Miller’s apartment. Fourteen calls of service were generated on Miller’s apartment alone.
On Jan. 26, an officer met with an apartment resident. The resident told the officer that she had gotten up early to shop. While she was standing in the hallway between the back door and the lobby, Miller was pounding on the back door, screaming for the resident to let her in. When the resident refused to open the door, Miller cursed and yelled at her. Miller then went around to the front door and continued to yell at her. When the resident refused again, Miller found a way in and approached her, saying she was going to hurt her. Miller then continued to yell and curse until the resident left and went to the police. The resident has a no-contact order against Miller.
Miller was booked in the Kosciusko County Jail Jan. 30, with a $1,500 cash bond.
