Daffodil Days Are Back
KOSCIUSKO — The American Cancer Society is bringing back the much loved, and much missed Daffodil Days.
Carol Huffer, the previous coordinator of Daffodil Days, said she was recently contacted by the South Bend office of the American Cancer Society to see if she thought Daffodil Days would be welcome in the area again and if she would be willing to be the contact person once again. Huffer said her reply was “a big yes and yes.”
The American Cancer Society Daffodil Days was looked forward to for many years in this area. Daffodils are titled “The Flower of Hope” by the Cancer Society. Huffer said the original coordinator, Lois Niemier, headed the annual project for several years and when she needed to relinquish her responsibility to the project, Huffer, now a twenty-three-year breast cancer survivor, and her husband, also a cancer survivor, offered to take over the project as coordinators.
Orders can be called to Huffer anytime between now and Feb. 28. Delivery will be on March 21. The flowers will be $10 per bunch, which is 10 stems. Deliveries can be made if the order consists of ten bunches, or more, to one specific location. Anderson Greenhouse, on north Detroit Street, has offered to provide space for that day in order to allow people to pick-up their orders.
What is exciting, says Huffer, is that people still ask her if there will ever be Daffodil Days again and now she can say, yes, they’re back. And, with that, Huffer would appreciate help with the distribution of flyers, taking of orders and general help with completing this project successfully. She can be contacted by calling (574) 858-0051.
