Claypool Town Council Discusses Potential Internet Provider And Winter Reminders
CLAYPOOL — Business at the Claypool Town Council meeting Tuesday, Jan. 15, focused on a discussion regarding the possibility of Internet provider Mercury Wireless installing equipment on the town’s water tower.
Tyler Osmon, a Mercury Wireless sales representative, was present at the meeting to discuss the equipment with the town council. Osmon said the equipment would provide those in proximity to the water tower with wireless Internet.
The council asked Osmon several questions, including the price range and other towns Mercury Wireless provides coverage for. Osmon said a basic Internet package starts at $59.99 a month. The company provides Internet for cities including Nappanee and Butler.
After some discussion, the council agreed to think it over and find out how community members feel about the provider. The council also agreed to reach out to towns who have Mercury Wireless as their Internet provider.
Town Marshal Ben Sanders was also present at the council meeting to request manual pull life flotation devices for police vehicles. The request was made due to an animal rescue that occurred over the weekend. The council voted to purchase two flotation devices for the police department.
Sanders told the council that the IT provider switch-over to Mastermind Computers went smoothly.
Toward the end of the meeting, the council reminded citizens to not park in alleyways while it’s snowing and that downtown parking is closed from 4 to 6 a.m. for plowing purposes. The council also said that if any citizens have large items needing thrown away to contact Advanced Disposal.
