First Auditions Scheduled For 2019 Passion Play
SYRACUSE — Lakes Area Players will be hold auditions for “Christ’s Passion,” their annual passion play from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 6, and 5:30 to 7 p.m. Monday, Jan. 7.
At 7 p.m. Monday, Jan. 7, the group will hold an informal meeting and music rehearsal. Rehearsal schedules, informational sheets, committee sign up sheets and scripts will be made available at that time.
Roles include singing and speaking parts. “Everyone who comes to audition or sign in will be in the cast,” said Elaine Pearson, the play’s director.
“We also need technical crew members for lights, sounds and special effects. We need everyone to participate in some way on a committee, such as building crew, makeup, costumes, props and set cosmetics.”
The rehearsal schedule has changed this year. “There will be sessions where only main characters of various scenes will rehearse,” said Pearson. “Then we will come together to work everyone into the scenes to play off of each other to help bring the meaning more clear to each of us.”
Pearson hopes the performances “will entice audiences to learn and experience what Jesus has declared to us with his love.”
“There are no small parts,” she said. “To tell this message, it takes all working together to tell the good news of Jesus Christ.”
Performances will be held at:
• 7 p.m. Friday, April 12
• 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. Saturday, April 13
• 2 p.m. Sunday, April 14
• 7 p.m. Friday, April 19
• 2 p.m. Saturday, April 20
All performances will be held in the Activity Center at Quaker Haven Camp south of Syracuse.
