Herbert Paul Haist, 69, of Rochester and formerly of Mentone passed at 9:10 pm, Wednesday, Dec. 26, 2018 at Lutheran Hospital of Ft. Wayne, Indiana.

He was born on Aug 14, 1949, in Toledo, Ohio to Paul R. and Eva Mae (Loker) Haist.

He was the city planner for Deadwood, South Dakota and worked on his ranch in Sundance, Wyoming.

He was a graduate of Mentone High School 1967 and Michigan State University with his Associates Degree. Then he graduated from South Dakota State University with his Bachelor Degree. He enjoyed living out west on his ranch and was an enthusiast of historic preservation.

Survivors include mother Eva Mae Haist of Rochester; brother Randy Haist of Rochester; niece Meredith and husband Travis Adams of Mentone; and his cattle dog Belle

He was preceded in death by his father Paul Haist (2016), sister Jacalyn Haist (2017) and his infant brother.

Following his wishes no services will be held at this time.

Arrangements are Entrusted to King Memorial Home 101 North Tucker Street Mentone.
