Randy R. Veach
Randy R. Veach, 61, Milford, passed away at 11:05 p.m., Dec. 26, 2018, while surrounded by his family at home. He was born on Jan. 10, 1957, the son of Richard and Myrtle (Hollar) Sliter in Elkhart. On Dec. 23, 2006, he married the love of his life, Kathy Richardson; she survives.
He graduated with the class of 1975 from Wawasee High School. He spent 36 years of his life employed by the Town of Milford Utilities Department, the last eight years as superintendent. He was a member of the Indiana Rural Water Association and received Small Systems Operator of the Year award in 2015. He also owned and operated Veach Lawn Care since 2003. Randy was a volunteer ambulance driver with Milford EMS for 13 years. He enjoyed cooking on his charcoal grill and open fire with his collection of cast cookware for his family and friends. One of his favorite things to do was traveling to Dale Hollow Lake in Tennessee to go fishing, house boating, and visiting with the many friends he made in his last 25 years. Randy also enjoyed traveling to Cacun with 16 of his longtime friends. He was an avid outdoorsman, enjoyed fishing, hunting, and ice fishing.
He is survived by his wife, Kathy Veach; six children, Corey (Krystal) Veach, Chad (Jessica) Veach, Christa (Virgil) Sharp, Amanda (Gerardo) Anacleto, all of Milford, Justin Carpenter of Indianapolis, and Jonathan (Trina) Shaw; 14 grandchildren, Braydon, Taylor, Cheyenne, Eliza, Sawyer, Stephanie, Bentley, Lukas, Mariella, Alejandro, John, Jaxon, Sofia, Austin; and a brother, Russell (Janet) Veach of North Manchester.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Fremont and Grace Hollar; a ten week old baby brother, Devon Allen; and two grandsons, Wyatt Veach and Benjamin Sharp.
A funeral service will be held in Randy’s honor at 3:30 p.m., Sunday, Dec. 30, 2018, at Mishler Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 461 W 900 N, Milford, IN 46542. Pastor Lee Compson will officiate. Burial will follow at Mount Pleasant Cemetery.
Family and friends will be received from noon to 6 p.m., on Saturday, Dec. 29, at the funeral home. In keeping with Randy’s wishes, everyone is invited to attend the services in casual attire. Randy would want you to “come as you are, and no suits!”. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Milford Fire Department in Randy’s honor.
