Get Updated On Technology At The Warsaw Community Career Center
WARSAW — The Warsaw Community Career Center offers monthly workshops that can be completed in increments, with assessments and certifications upon completion. This is the place to prepare yourself for a growing business and manufacturing world that demands more digital literacy and online tech skills.
All Career Center events are free and open to the public. Events take place at the Community Career Center, located at 751 Anchorage Point Drive, Warsaw, adjacent to the Goodwill retail store.
Open Practice Interviews
- 11 a.m. to noon Monday, Jan. 7
- 11 a.m. to noon Monday, Jan. 21
The Goodwill Career Center will be hosting open mock interviews for anyone who would like to practice interview skills. If you’re nervous about having an interview, or struggling to land a job because of the process, these mock interviews will help prepare you for the types of questions, from basic to personal, that may be asked of you. There will be a discussion on how to answer the difficult questions and what to avoid. Learn how to appear confident and highlight skills in a conversation. Another topic that will be covered is how personal appearance makes a great first impression. Please choose a date and time to stop by and practice interview skills and receive a 25 percent discount to the Goodwill retail store.
Get Up-To-Date On Technology

Everyone has job skills, but how good are they? On Thursday, Jan. 10, there will be a discussion on job skills and how to improve on them in order to market yourself for a more competitive and ever-changing workforce landscape. There will be a focus on adding technical skills, from computer knowledge and managing information, to social media and app use. Bring a computer or use one of ours and you’ll be guided through getting organized, learning new tricks and skills, and becoming one step closer to being tech savvy. Whatever your skill set is, this workshop is designed to update your work abilities and make you more adaptable to the current and future workforce environment.
Job Fair
- noon to 2 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 15
The Goodwill Career Center is holding a job fair from noon to 2 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 15. Representatives from the following businesses will be in attendance: People Link Staffing is hiring for multiple companies and a range of shifts, Danco Anodizing, AVI Foodsystems, and Home Helpers. All are hiring with positions that need to be filled as soon as possible. Dress professionally and bring an updated résumé to better chances of landing a job.
Veterans Employment Services
- 10 a.m. to noon Thursday, Jan. 17
Daniel Reed from WorkOne will be at the Goodwill Career Center to provide information for veterans about services in the local area. He will offer one-on-one employment help, employer resources, information on benefits and contacts for further services.
Manage An E-mail Inbox
- 1 to 2 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 23
Do you have hundreds, perhaps thousands of e-mails in your inbox? Are you bogged down with junk and spam, but unsure how to clean it out? The Career Center will assist you in cleaning up your e-mail inbox. There will also be a discussion on e-mail settings, how to block contacts or flag as spam, and how to store and save information that’s important to you. Please bring your account details, including your login and password information, so we can start you off with a fresh new e-mail account if you need or choose to have one. All e-mail skill levels are welcome.
Intro To Microsoft Word And Google Docs
- 11 a.m. to noon Thursday, Jan. 24
There will be a comparison on Microsoft Word and Google Docs, their basic functions and features, and their similarities and differences. This introductory workshop will make you familiar with the essential tools and allows hands-on training with both programs. Learn how to record, write, and design business or personal information that’s important to you. All skill levels are welcome.
