Vikes, Squires Go To The Wire
AKRON – Tippecanoe Valley and Manchester proved to be about even as it could get in the swimming pool Wednesday. Both the boys and girls teams swam nearly straight up, with the Viking boys winning 68-66 and the Lady Squires coming out ahead 72-68.
Valley had a host of event winners to help stack points against their Three Rivers Conference rivals. Mason Stephen led the way with two wins, taking the 100 free at 56.40 and the breaststroke at 1:11.91. Dakota Prater won the 200 free at 2:05.60, Mitchell Smith took the 500 free at 7:00.83, Grayson Sriver claimed the butterfly at 1:25.46 and Brandon Hoffman grabbed the backstroke at 1:05.43.
Both the medley (2:05.40) and 400 free relay (4:24.02) were Viking wins.
Manchester had Parker York win the 50 free at 24.36 and Jacob Slavkin win the individual medley unopposed at 3:22.59. The Squire 200 free relay won in exciting fashion, coming home at 2:00.33, a half-second faster than Valley.
Mayde Fear led Valley with a pair of wins, taking the 50 at 28.28 and the backstroke at 1:16.12. Olivia Livengood and Jerzey Conley both had a win apiece, Livengood the butterfly at 1:06.65 and Conley the 200 free at 2:32.90. Valley won all three relays, the medley (2:28.16), the 200 (2:04.16) and 400 (4:49.54).
Halle Briner paced Manchester with wins in the IM (2:17.59) and the 500 (5:36.06).
