Kosciusko
Officers from the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department investigated the following accidents:
6:19 a.m. Monday, Dec. 10, SR 13, south of East CR 200N, Pierceton. Driver: Melissa A. Smith, 43, East CR 400N, Pierceton. Smith told police she was driving her vehicle south on SR 13 when a deer entered the roadway. She told police she was unable to avoid hitting the deer with her vehicle. Damage up to $5,000.
5:05 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 8, East CR 1350N, east of North East Wawasee Drive, Syracuse. Driver: Cindy L. McClelland, 53, North SR 5, Cromwell. McClelland told police she was driving her vehicle eastbound on CR 1350N when a dog entered the roadway. She told police she was unable to avoid hitting the dog with her vehicle. Damage up to $5,000.
4:42 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 8, North SR 13, Syracuse. Police took a report from a driver of a 2002 Acura who reported a hit and run. Damage up to $5,000.
8:42 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 8, East CR 250N, south of North CR 100E, Warsaw. Police reported that a vehicle, registered to Juan C. Montes, East CR 200N, Warsaw, had struck a utility pole on CR 100E and was abandoned. Damage up to $10,000.
12:51 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 8, North SR 13, south of East CR 1000N, Syracuse. Driver: Connor J. Bresnahan, 23, Arabian Drive, Portage, Mich. Bresnahan told police he was driving his vehicle northbound on SR 13 when a deer entered the roadway. He told police he was unable to avoid hitting the deer with his vehicle. Damage up to $5,000.
7:11 p.m. Friday, Dec. 7, South SR 25, south of West CR 200S, Warsaw. Driver: Timothy W. Harman, 63, West SR 14, Akron. Harman told police he was driving his vehicle southbound on SR 25 when a deer entered the roadway. He told police he was unable to avoid hitting the deer with his vehicle. Damage up to $2,500.
7:21 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 6, West Old Road 30, west of North CR 650W, Atwood. Driver: Mark A. Marley, 48, North Main Street, Bourbon. Marley told police he was driving his vehicle westbound on Old Road 30 when a deer entered the roadway. He told police he was unable to avoid hitting the deer with his vehicle. Damage up to $10,000.
Mentone
Officers from the Mentone Police Department investigated the following accident:
11:56 a.m. Friday, Dec. 7, SR 25, west of CR 950W, Mentone. Drivers: Dorcas F. Martin, 24, North CR 825E, Mentone; Chester D. Crum, 77, West SR 25, Mentone. Martin told police she did not see the vehicle driven by Crum, which was stopped in the roadway and collided with that vehicle when she attempted to turn. Damage up to $10,000.
Syracuse
Officers from the Syracuse Police Department investigated the following accident:
6:33 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 8, West Portland Street, west of Oak Street, Syracuse. Driver: James R. Jacobson, 38, West Portland Street, Syracuse. Jacobson told police he was backing his vehicle out of his driveway and collided with a parked vehicle he did not see. Damage up to $2,500.
Warsaw
Officers with the Warsaw Police Department investigated the following accident:
9:16 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 9, Clinic Court, Warsaw. Driver: Travis N. Sorensen, 30, South Maple Grove Lane, Warsaw. Sorensen told police he was pulling his vehicle into a parking spot and collided with a parked vehicle, which was parked outside the parking spot boundaries. Damage up to $2,500.
5:36 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 9, East Center Street, east of North Roosevelt St., Warsaw. Drivers: Elizabeth L. Gruwell, 35, East CR 200N, Warsaw; Leaun Vanhook, 53, West US6, Wawaka. Gruwell told police she was pulling her vehicle out of a parking lot and pulled into the path of Vanhook’s vehicle, thinking Vanhook was going to turn since the turn signal was on. Damage up to $2,500.
2:29 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 9, Commerce Drive and Frontage Road, Warsaw. Drivers: James A. Guisinger, 66, Quail Run Drive, Wheatfield; Amber S. Bell, 43, Frontage Road, Warsaw. Guisinger told police he was driving his vehicle westbound on Commerce Drive and did not see the vehicle driven by Bell, due to glare from the sun and pulled into the vehicle’s path. Damage up to $2,500.
5:48 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 8, Patterson Road, west of Dogwood Lane, Warsaw. Driver: Keenan S. Yates, 26, West Center Street, Warsaw. Yates told police he was driving his vehicle eastbound on Patterson Road when a deer entered the roadway. He told police he was unable to avoid hitting the deer with his vehicle. Damage up to $2,500.
3:06 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 8, Walton Boulevard, Warsaw. Drivers: Jerry J. Auer, 53, East CR 550S, Warsaw; Henry G. Black, 57, EMS C28A Lane, Warsaw. Auer told police that the vehicle driven by Black was backing up traffic in the middle of the Walmart parking lot and when he was motioned around by Black, he cut too close, causing his vehicle to collide with Black’s vehicle. Damage up to $2,500.
9:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 7, Prairie Street and SR 15, Warsaw. Drivers: Dusty C. Wiesehan, 18, South CR 1000W, Mentone; Lynae E. Dawson, 18, East Old Road 30, Warsaw. Wiesehan told police he was driving his vehicle westbound on Prairie Street, approaching the intersection with South Buffalo Street and attempted to make a left turn, pulling into the path of the vehicle driven by Dawson. Damage up to $25,000.
5:15 p.m. Friday, Dec. 7, South SR 15, north of West Prairie Street, Warsaw. Drivers: Roslynn A. Morgan, 69, South Main Street, Claypool; David E. Reavis, 62, Nelson Road, Elroy, Wisc. Morgan told police she was driving her vehicle southbound on SR 15 when she believes her brakes failed, causing her to collide with Reavis’ vehicle. Reavis and a passenger in his vehicle both complained of pain to the back and head respectively, but both declined to be transported to the hospital. Damage up to $5,000.
9:56 a.m. Friday, Dec. 7, West Main Street, east of North Lake Street, Warsaw. Driver: Alisa Davis, 24, Marys Drive, Warsaw. Davis was backing her vehicle out of a parking spot and hit a parked vehicle, registered to Michelle Miller, Claypool. Damages up to $2,500.
9:02 a.m. Friday, Dec. 7, Jalynn Drive, Warsaw. Drivers: Nathaniel A. Carlson, 29, Jenna Street, South Whitley; Leah N. Coble, 39, Rattington Circle, Warsaw. Carlson told police he was driving his vehicle southbound on the access road behind McDonalds when glare impaired his view and he turned into the path of Coble’s vehicle, causing the collision. Damage up to $10,000.
Winona Lake
Officers from the Winona Lake Police Department investigated the following accidents:
8:21 p.m. Friday, Dec. 7, Park Avenue and Auditorium Boulevard., Winona Lake. Drivers: Johanna L. Bauer, 47, Linden Road, Argos; Royal J. Pletcher, 23, Birch Road, Bourbon. Bauer told police she was driving her vehicle on Auditorium Boulevard and was stopped at an intersection and did not see any traffic traveling north and south. She said her visibility could have been obstructed by parked cars and said she proceeded into the intersection and into the path of the vehicle driven by Pletcher. Damage up to $2,500.
8:45 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 6, 1st Street and King’s Highway, Winona Lake. Drivers: Eli M. Owen, 18, Sunset Drive, Winona Lake; Luke D. Miller, 17, East CR 600S, Claypool. Winona Lake police responded to Kosciusko Community Hospital to investigate an accident report. Miller told police that he was in his vehicle with two passengers, stopped at a stop sign when his vehicle was struck from the rear by Owen. The occupants of Miller’s car transported Owen home and later, a passenger in Miller’s car began to experience pain and vomiting and was transported to the hospital. Damage less than $750.
