Girls Basketball Results: Nov. 20
NORTH MIAMI 45, LAKELAND CHRISTIAN 29
A 25-13 second half by North Miami cued an LCA loss at home Tuesday night.
The Lady Cougars trailed by a manageable 20-16 deficit at halftime before a 12-6 third period put the home team down by double digits.
No Cougar scored in double figures, although Tori Calizo was close with nine points and 11 rebounds. Younger sister Jessi finished with seven points, Abigail Fishel scored six, and Anna Reimink finished with five points, three assists, two steals and three blocks in an all-around game.
Hannah Hall paced three Warriors in double figures with a double-double of 15 points and 10 rebounds, followed by Bailey Keim’s 13 points and eight rebounds and Maryann Freeman’s 10 points.
North Miami (3-2) made 14 trips to the foul line, where the Warriors finished 10 for 14. LCA (3-3) was 4 of 10 from the line and 1 of 11 from 3-point range.
The Cougars will have a week layover before playing at South Bend Community Baptist next Tuesday at 6 p.m.
NORTHWOOD 62, TRITON 21
NorthWood used a 13-0 first quarter and 27-4 first half to hand host Triton a lopsided 62-21 defeat at the Trojan Trench Tuesday night.
The Lady Panthers connected at an ultra efficient 65 percent rate from the floor, while host Triton finished at a 32 percent clip, including a 2-for-10 conversion rate during the decisive first half.
Mackenzie Bergman knocked down 7 of 9 shots, including 5 of 6 3-pointers, on her way to a game-high 19 points for NorthWood, while Kate Rulli was 8 of 11 for 17 points for the visitors. NorthWood (5-2) also parlayed 19 Triton turnovers into 25 points and 10 offensive rebounds into 18 second chance points.
Triton (1-6) got nine points from Delanie Groves and four apiece from Lexia Hostrawser and Alyxa Viers as the Lady Trojans fell short of a second straight win after breaking into the win column opposite Wawasee over the weekend.
The Trojans host a tournament Saturday, opening with Sheridan at 10 a.m. NorthWood will have more than a week layover before opening Northern Lakes Conference play at Concord next Friday, Nov. 30.
PENN 38, WARSAW 34
The Lady Tigers led 31-25 after three periods, but a 13-3 final frame propelled the host Lady Kingsman to a narrow win over Warsaw as Penn stayed unbeaten in Mishawaka Tuesday night.
Kaylee Patton scored 13 points and dished out five assists to go with four steals, and Kacilyn Krebs scored nine for Warsaw, which converted at an 8-of-13 (61.5 percent) clip from the floor in the first half on the way to a 25-11 halftime cushion.
Trinity Clinton scored 13, and Jordyn Smith finished with 11 for Penn (6-0), which got a little deeper production in the come-from-behind victory.
Warsaw (3-4) will play at New Castle Saturday at 6 p.m.
TIPPECANOE VALLEY 54, MACONAQUAH 31
Tippecanoe Valley earned its fourth straight win with a 54-31 victory in its Three Rivers Conference-opener at Maconaquah Tuesday night.
Sophie Bussard put up 17 points, and Sydney Wagner scored 15 in a one-two punch for the Lady Vikings, who used a 19-10 second period to grab a double-digit lead at the half and never looked back. Makenzie Woodcox chipped in nine for Valley (4-1, 1-0 TRC).
Maconaquah (2-3, 1-2 TRC) was paced by Lilly Maple’s 13 points.
Valley hosts a tournament Saturday, opening with Goshen at 10:30 a.m.
LAKELAND CHRISTIAN JUNIOR HIGH 38, GRANGER CHRISTIAN 12
Eight LCA players scored for Lakeland Christian Junior High in a win over Granger Christian Tuesday.
Finley Hobbs and Maddie Silveus led the Cougars with nine points apiece, Adyson Dailey scored six, and Alexis Miller and Cara McCrum chipped in four points apiece.
The LCA junior high girls will host Blackhawk Christian next Thursday, Nov. 29.
