Couple Faces Theft Charges After Stealing $6,500 Worth Of Items From Friend
KOSCIUSKO — A couple is facing charges after a childhood friend let them stay at her house and they stole at least $6,500 worth of items from her home.
Krystal Kay Tennant, 30, with addresses of Syracuse and Fort Wayne, is being charged with theft, a level 6 felony. She was booked on a warrant into the Kosciusko County Jail on Nov. 13, with a $10,000 surety and cash bond.
A theft warrant has yet to be served for Stephan Ault, Ohio. He also faces a felony theft charge.
On Oct. 20, 2017, an officer with the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department met with a homeowner. The homeowner advised she allowed her childhood friend Tennant and her boyfriend to stay at her residence from Oct. 24 to Oct. 27, 2017.
The homeowner told the officer that during that time, the couple stole a Samsung Galaxy S7 cellphone, a Dell laptop computer, two Samsung tablets, two Polaroid tablets, a Seiko watch, wedding bands, rings and necklaces, a vehicle battery, Xbox video games and cash. The total value of the items stolen was estimated of at least $6,500.
The officer discovered that on Oct. 26, 2017, Ault used his Ohio identification card to sell the cellphone to ecoATM. The officer received the cellphone from ecoATM to confirm it was the same phone stolen from the residence.
The officer further discovered that on Oct. 27, 2017, Tennant used her Indiana operator’s license to sell a vehicle battery at Omni Source. The homeowner was able to confirm it was the same battery stolen from her residence.
