Lady Lancers Qualify For NAIA, Host Game Saturday
WINONA LAKE — For the second time in program history, Grace’s women’s soccer team secured its spot into the NAIA National Championships.
The Lady Lancers earned the No. 15 seed in the 30-team field and will host an NAIA opening round match on Saturday against Eastern Oregon. The time for Saturday’s game at 1st Source Bank Field will be announced at a later time.
Grace is enjoying its best record in program history at 18-3. The Lady Lancers tied for the Crossroads League regular season championship, the first title in team history.
The NAIA field features 16 opening round matches to kick off the national tournament. The winners of those matches advance to the final site at the Orange Beach Sportsplex in Orange Beach, Ala.
In Grace’s first appearance at NAIA Nationals in 2015, the Lady Lancers also hosted an opening round game. Grace beat Park (Mo.) 2-1 in that game.
Eastern Oregon boasts a 15-2-2 record. The Mountaineers qualified as the regular season champion of the Cascade Collegiate Conference. EOU is making its third appearance at NAIA Nationals.
