Schermerhorn Lands All-State Honor
INDIANAPOLIS – Just hours after the Indiana High School Volleyball Coaches Association announced its All-District teams, it came right back and offered its choices for All-State, announced Tuesday.
Much of the same names from the All-District teams were elevated to All-State status. Locally, just one name was given All-State status in West Noble stud Madison Schermerhorn, who represents Class 3-A’s First Team All-State.
Schermerhorn helped West Noble to a 31-6 record this season and an appearance in the regional finals. Along the way, the Chargers won its fourth sectional title and second in three years.
The Purdue-bound senior finished with some huge numbers, registering 465 kills, 293 serves received, 269 digs, 68 blocks, 56 aces and 19 assists.
Joining Schermerhorn on the 3-A All-State list was Isabella Ravotto of Mishawaka Marian, and Ravotto’s teammate, Chloe Lentych, was a Second Team All-State pick.
Penn’s Alyssa Torres was a Class 4-A All-State pick.
Pioneer dominated the Class 1-A All-State nods, with Mikenna Landis and Haley Gleitz as First Team and Alexis Robinson, Mackenzie Campbell and Madison Blickenstaff as Second Team. Coach Rod Nies was named Coach of the Year.
Class 2-A had North Judson’s Lauren Cox, Makenzie Harper and Macy Reinbold make First Team and Courtney Trusty as Second Team. Wabash’s Tabatha Wagner was First Team and McKenzie Hayslett was Second Team.
