Falltastic Trail Walk At WACF Oct. 20-21
SYRACUSE — Wawasee Area Conservancy Foundation’s third annual Falltastic Trail Walk is scheduled both days from noon to 4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 20, and Sunday, Oct. 21. It’s a great way for adults and children to get outside and enjoy nature.
The trails are located on the WACF Levinson-Labrosse Lakes & Wetlands Education Center, 11586 N. SR 13, Syracuse.
Each year the event grows in attendance and decor.
Children will enjoy a scavenger hunt they can complete while they walk the trails with an adult. If you’re really quiet you might even catch a glimpse of a deer, some sandhill cranes or many other small wildlife.
Decorations will include scarecrows, skeletons, fall flowers, pumpkins and many more interesting “exhibits” tucked away in the corners of the woods.
Guests can walk through the foundation’s wooded wetlands and see native plants, learn about the value of the wetlands and how organisms get prepared for winter. Walkers will also learn about some Halloween and fall facts.
There is also the opportunity for geocaching on the WACF trails.
The Falltastic Trail Walk is an educational as well as recreational walk in the woods. There are three miles of trails at WACF and at least one trail will be decorated for fall and Halloween.
WACF property is dog friendly so bring the family dog along to enjoy a walk.
There will be human refreshments and dog treats in the pavilion along with a crackling fire.
