Kosciusko
Officers with the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department investigated the following accidents:
11:56 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 9, West US 30 and North CR 650W, Warsaw. Drivers: Wade A. Overholser, 42, Duncan Drive, Huntington; and Andrew Shadorsko, 35, Moss Lane, Aurora, Ill. Overholser advised that a semi was crossing US 30, turning west. Overholser stated his vehicle struck the rear end of the semi trailer. Officers on scene observed evidence suggesting that Overholser had been traveling eastbound in the westbound lane. Shadorsko stated he was traveling westbound in the westbound lane when Overholser’s vehicle appeared in his lane, traveling eastbound. Shadorsko advised he tried to avoid the collision but was unsuccessful. Two witnesses stated that Overholser’s vehicle was going the wrong way on US 30 when the collision occurred. Overholser was treated by medics at the scene and transported to Kosciusko Community Hospital. Damage up to $25,000.
6:32 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 9, South Beaver Dam Road, west of South CR 700W, Claypool. Driver: Kelsey S. Miller, 22, West SR 14, Akron. Miller advised she was southbound on Beaver Dam Road when a dog ran into the side of her vehicle. Damage up to $2,500.
12:14 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 9, Wawasee Drive, south of East CR 1250N, Syracuse. Drivers: Donald R. McAfee, 73, EMS D22A Lane, Syracuse; and Caleb D. Shively, 18, EMS T26 Lane, Leesburg. When the railroad crossing arms began to come down due to an approaching train, McAfee started to back his vehicle up and did not see Shively’s vehicle behind him. The trailer receiver on McAfee’s vehicle struck Shively’s vehicle. Damage up to $2,500.
Syracuse
Officers with the Syracuse Police Department investigated the following accident:
2:42 p.m. Tuesday, Oct 9, Warrior Path, Syracuse. Driver: Steven P. Coverstone, 62, East Backwater Road, North Webster. Coverstone advised his vehicle struck the rear end of a parked car in the parking lot at Wawasee High School. Damage up to $2,500.
Warsaw
Officers with the Warsaw Police Department investigated the following accident:
6 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 10, North Detroit Street, Warsaw. Driver: Thomas E. Davidson, 26, West Monroe Street, Mentone. Davidson’s vehicle struck a pedestrian in a parking lot. The pedestrian stated she was walking through a parking lot when Davidson’s vehicle made contact with her. She advised that Davidson asked if she was injured. She reported at that time she was not experiencing pain. Another person in the parking lot began accusing Davidson of driving too fast. At that time, Davidson reportedly left the scene. The pedestrian later began experiencing pain in her knee. She notified her employer and was taken for a medical evaluation. Davidson advised he was leaving work and traveling through the parking lot when the pedestrian stepped out from between two vehicles and into his path. He stated he offered to wait with the pedestrian until police arrived. He advised this is when another individual began blaming him for driving too fast in the parking lot so Davidson then left the area. Davidson stated he does not have insurance and his driver’s license is suspended. Damage up to $750.
