Washington Students Study Monarch Life Cycle
WARSAW — Students with Washington Elementary School’s STEM Academy have been studying the life cycles and habits of the Monarch butterfly during a program that lasts from August to December as the insects migrate to Mexico.
Students from all grade levels brought in caterpillars and raised them to adulthood. The butterflies, once adult, were tagged with a special sticker.
“We will be able to track and monitor their progress as they migrate,” said Joshua Wall, a teacher at the STEM Academy. He said the program would help students “understand life cycles, migration patterns, teamwork, and a love of learning.”
