Warsaw Family Worship Center To Host Drug Addiction Recovery Event
WARSAW — Each day, news organizations publish stories about people arrested for possessing and dealing drugs. Seeing these stories on a daily basis inspired JR Pennington to host a night of hope and healing for addicts and their families.
On Saturday, Sept. 15, the Warsaw Family Worship Center will host an event called “Reaching Out Hope For Recovery,” a night where community members can get together and talk about their journey to recovery.
“We’ve actually had two of our youth here [at the church] who have went through drug rehab,” said Pennington. “I just felt compelled to do something while giving people hope and reaching out to people who are going through this recovery process.”
Starting at 5 p.m., there will be a “Jeeps Against Drugs” drive-in event, where community members will bring their Jeeps to the worship center. A concession stand will also be set up at the event, with all proceeds going to drug recovery centers in Warsaw.
“Instead of just having an event, we also wanted to be able to help out financially, because it’s a big burden on these organizations,” said Pennington.
Story sharing will begin at 6 p.m. Addicts and their families are encouraged to attend and share their stories of recovery with the community. Doug Bolton, a.k.a. “Blizz,” a Christian rapper, will share his story about alcohol addiction and will also perform a concert at the event.
The event will take place at the Fellowship Hall in the Warsaw Family Worship Center, located at 1250 Husky Trail. For more information on the event, contact the Center at (574) 267-7210.
