Syracuse Woman Arrested After Fraudulently Sending Grandmother’s Money To Incarcerated Boyfriend
SYRACUSE — A Syracuse woman was arrested after she fraudulently used her grandmother’s debit card to send her incarcerated boyfriend money.
Amber Rae Zollinger, 34, 207 E. Pittsburgh Drive, Syracuse, is being charged with fraud on a financial institution, a level 5 felony.
On Aug. 1, an officer with the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department responded to Lake City Bank in reference to a fraud. An employee of the bank advised that a female had reported unauthorized transactions made using her debit card.
Transactions totaling $327.80 had been made to both the Elkhart County Jail and the Kosciusko County Jail. In all cases, the transactions were sent specifically to inmate Travis Osbun.
On Aug. 2, the officer made contact with the owner of the debit card. She advised that her granddaughter Zollinger is dating Osbun. The grandmother told the officer that she had not given Osbun or Zollinger permission to use her debit card.
The officer made contact with Zollinger. During their conversation. Zollinger admitted to making transactions to Osbun’s jail account.
Zollinger was booked into the Kosciusko County Jail on Aug. 27, with a $2,750 surety and cash bond.
