Warsaw Man Faces Charges After Breaking Into Ex-Girlfriend’s Residence
WARSAW — A Warsaw man is facing charges after reportedly breaking into his ex-girlfriend’s residence.
Mark Duane Smith, 49, 536 E. Center St., Warsaw, is being charged with residential entry, a level 6 felony; and criminal trespass, a class A misdemeanor.
According to the affidavit of probable cause, on Aug. 17, an officer with the Warsaw Police Department was dispatched to the scene in regard to a residential entry. Dispatch advised that a female caller stated that her ex-boyfriend, Smith, was trying to enter her residence without her consent.
Upon arrival, the officer was met at the door to the residence by the female. She stated that Smith had made entry into her home through a window and was in the bedroom. A search of the residence was conducted, and Smith was found hiding in a closet.
The officer confirmed that Smith was trespassed from the residence on a prior occasion. Smith was booked at the Kosciusko County Jail Friday, Aug. 17, on a $5,750 surety and cash bond.
