Volleyball Results: Aug. 20
WAWASEE 3, LAKELAND 2
It was all hands on deck for Wawasee Monday night in its five-game win at Lakeland. Wawasee would need contributions for just about everyone in a 11-25, 26-24, 25-21, 16-25, 15-12 marathon.
Madison Simmons collected 14 digs and 13 kills to lead the Lady Warriors. Molly Jones had eight kills and four aces, Hannah Gaerte accumulated nine digs, seven kills and three aces, Elizabeth Kleopfer posted 26 aces and 11 digs and Madison Mottern chipped in seven kills.
The JV from Syracuse had a much easier time in a 25-12, 25-11 result. Leaders for Wawasee included Emma Dippon at six kills, Kai Jamora with eight assists, Morgan Heche with six digs and Delaney Hare with six digs and six aces.
The Lady Warriors (2-1) jump right back into action Tuesday against Central Noble.
WARSAW 3, HOMESTEAD 2
Another wild one went to a team from Kosciusko County as Warsaw pulled off a tight one with Homestead. The Lady Tigers and Spartans traded 27-25 wins in games one and two, with Homestead taking game three 25-20 and Warsaw winning game four 25-10. In the deciding frame, Warsaw pulled out a 15-8 capper.
The stat list for the Tigers is also long, leading off with Erin Peugh’s 24 digs, six kills, one block and one ace. Kacy Bragg also had a full night, sending up 45 assists, eight digs, six kills, four blocks and four aces and Katie Swanson also had a loaded stat sheet with nine kills, four aces, three digs and three blocks.
Kennedy Lauck added 11 kills and a huge 10 blocks, Betty Barnett posted 15 kills and seven digs, Kylie Smith had 16 digs and a pair of aces, Cora West added six digs and Rachel Yeager ended with six kills, four blocks, four digs and two aces.
Warsaw (6-1) will next compete Saturday at the Mishawaka Invite.
ROCHESTER 3, TRITON 0
Rochester took care of Triton in straight sets 25-13, 25-14, 25-21 at the Trench.
On the standout list for the Lady Trojans were Lexia Hostrowser with six kills and a block, Dylanie Miller with 12 assists and three aces, Kendall Hensley with three aces and Abbey Viers with six kills.
The junior Trojans went the distance in a 25-24, 24-25, 18-16 win over Rochester.
Triton (0-4) host Bremen Tuesday.
LAKEVIEW 8TH GRADE 2, NORTHWOOD 1
Lakeview held on for a 25-20, 19-25, 15-10 win in its season opener.
Caitlyn Patrick had five kills and five assists and Tessa Graney added nine assists and six aces for Lakeview.
NORTHWOOD 7TH GRADE 2, LAKEVIEW 1
The seventh grade game was almost a mirror image of the eighth grade game, but in favor of NorthWood in a 20-25, 25-18, 15-10 result.
Lakeview had Clara Porter finish with 14 assists and 11 aces and Kenzie ChivingtonĀ chipped in six digs and four aces.
