Kosciusko
Officers with the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department investigated the following accidents:
5:18 a.m. Monday, Aug. 20, North SR 13, south of East CR 200N, North Webster. Driver: Lucas J. Schmittler, 19, West Keiser Road, South Whitley. Schmittler was traveling north on SR 13 when a deer entered the roadway. Damage up to $10,000.
1 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 19, Lake City Highway, west of North Parker Street, Warsaw. Drivers: Chase A. Greenland, 22, Piney Point Road, Conroe, TX; and Derek M. Taylor, 40, Climbing Tree Court, Valparaiso. Greenland was traveling west on US 30 when traffic began to slow due to a vehicle accident. Greenland was unable to stop his vehicle in time, causing him to rear-end Taylor’s vehicle. A passenger in Taylor’s vehicle, Megan S. Taylor, 35, Valparaiso, complained of soreness and stiffness but refused medical care at the time of the accident. Damage up to $10,000.
5:38 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 18, East US 30, near South SR 13, Pierceton. Drivers: Rusty W. Carlson, 25, Indian Trail, Jim Thorpe, Pa.; and Jasmin C. Maldonado-Mendoza, 21, Dot Street, Warsaw. Maldonado-Mendoza was westbound on US 30 and had stopped for a red light. When the stop light turned green, Carlson’s vehicle rear-ended Maldonado-Mendoza’s. An infant in Maldonado-Mendoza’s vehicle, Salvador Silvestre, Warsaw, was checked by medics at the scene. Damage up to $10,000.
Syracuse
Officers with the Syracuse Police Department investigated the following accident:
2:35 p.m. Friday, Aug. 17, North Huntington Street, south of East Carroll Street, Syracuse. Driver: Ryan J. Coquillard, 30, West Pickwick Drive, Syracuse. Coquillard began to turn left when he struck a pedestrian that was crossing the street. The pedestrian, Carolyn S. Cowell, 72, Wawaka, complained of chest pain. Damage under $750.
