PENN 5, WARSAW 0
Warsaw’s boys tennis team took its first loss of the season, 5-0, versus Penn Thursday.
Nolan Knight and Spencer Britton took seven games from Jack Dinnion and Alvin Yang at 1 doubles before falling, 6-4, 6-3. Hayden Anderson won four games in the first set of his 3 singles match with Peter Yang but lost 6-4, 6-0. Brian Elliott and Jarret Orr fell, 6-1, 6-2, versus Sid Dus and Jackson Buhring at 2 doubles, and Caleb Williams was shut out 0-0 by Will Thurin at 1 singles.
Warsaw’s JV was also shut out, 6-0, at the meet.
The Tigers varsity slips to 1-1. They play again Monday at home versus Mishawaka Marian at 5 p.m.
TRITON 5, ROCHESTER 0
Triton’s boys tennis team earned wins in two super tiebreakers on the way to a 5-0 win over Rochester Thursday, the team’s first of the year.
John Gardner won his super tiebreak over Grant McCarter at 1 singles to cap off a 5-7, 7-6(5), 12-10 win, and Tyler Heckaman and Grant Eib won their super tiebreaker at 2 doubles, 4-6, 7-6(5), 10-8, over Brock Beehler and Kane Lutz.
Jared Bules claimed a close first-set win over Andrew Dunwoody at 2 singles on the way to a 7-6(5), 6-2 victory, while Connor Large topped Aaron Meiser 6-0, 6-2 at 3 singles, and Carter Kuntz and Chase Butler defeated Kyle Reinartz and Quin Stesiak, 6-2, 6-1.
Triton’s JV lost their meet, 4-1.
The Trojan varsity moved to 1-2, while Rochester opened at 0-1. The team hosts Logansport Monday at 5 p.m.
PLYMOUTH 5, WAWASEE 0
Wawasee’s boys tennis team was whitewashed by host Plymouth Thursday, 5-0.
Graham Perek was defeated 6-4, 6-1 by Andy Rostron at 1 singles, Colin Rhoades fell 6-1, 6-3 to Grant Houin at 2 singles, and Clayton Firestone was defeated 6-2, 6-1 by Nic Bagley at 3 singles.
Both doubles pairings lost their matches via 6-1, 6-0 decision, with Jacob Krugman and Zach Leedy falling to Clay Hilliard and Adam Hunter at 1 doubles, and Grant Brooks and Zeke Keim losing to Shaun Frantz and Hugh Smith at 2 doubles.
Wawasee’s JV also lost, 6-1. The JV Warriors’ lone win came on the 2 doubles court, where Blaint Gant and Devon Kuhn beat James Dreibelbis and Logan Sniadecki, 8-6.
The varsity Warriors slip to 2-1 with Thursday’s loss. They host Whitko next Tuesday, beginning at 4:30 p.m.
NORTH JUDSON-SAN PIERRE 4, TIPPECANOE VALLEY 1
Valley lost a meet with North Judson Thursday, 4-1.
Payton Mills earned the Vikings their lone win in straight 6-0 sets at 1 singles. Ethan Yates fell 6-1, 6-3 at 2 singles, and Connor Frentzel fell via a competitive, 7-5, 6-4 decision at 3 singles. Valley forfeited both doubles points.
The Vikings return to action next Tuesday versus Peru at 5 p.m. in Akron.
