Health Department Encourages Taking Precautions To Prevent Tick-Borne Diseases
KOSCIUSKO — The Kosciusko County Health Department would like to encourage everyone to take precautions to prevent tick-borne diseases.
The Indiana State Department of Health is doing a study that involves testing black legged deer ticks to see if they are carrying Lyme disease. Early results demonstrate that Kosciusko County and Northern Indiana have moderate to significant risk for Lyme disease. More information will be released when it becomes available.
Ticks live in woody and bushy areas. Take precautions, such as wearing protective clothing and using insect repellant. If you have been in high risk tick areas, shower and inspect for ticks. Please see additional information at https://www.cdc.gov/lyme/prev/on_people.html.
