WARSAW — Norfolk Southern will soon be completing finishing touches on their massive rail replacement project that has taken place over the course of several months.
Norfolk Southern has advised the city of Warsaw that the Center Street railroad crossing is expected to be closed on Monday, Aug. 13 and Tuesday, Aug. 14, for final smoothing and paving work. Motorists will be redirected to Main Street and Market Street during this closure.
Hickory Street, which is currently closed, may reopen as early as Thursday, Aug. 16.
Sometime in the next two weeks, a surfacing gang will come through town to smooth the tracks and finish all temporarily paved crossings at that time. Crossings included in this surfacing work will be CR 200S, Ranch Road, Dogwood Drive, Pope Street, Winona Avenue and CR 350N. Crossings at CR 200S and CR 350N are expected to close for a partial day. The crossing at Dogwood Drive is expected to close for a full day. Crossings at Ranch Road, Pope Street, and Winona Avenue will experience longer closures of approximately two days.
When definitive dates for the surfacing gang’s arrival, and corresponding closures, are provided to the city, additional updates will be provided.
Motorists are strongly advised to use caution while driving over crossings and to slow down until final paving and finishing work is completed. Please plan accordingly and allow extra time for closures the next two weeks.
