First Round In Books At T&C State
Despite some heavy rain around the state, the first round of the Town & Country State Finals baseball tournaments are in the books from three sites around the state. Almost.
All but two games are complete after the first set of games for the 8U tourney at Akron, 10U tourney at Oak Hill and 12U tourney at Monticello.
At Akron, the home team Tippecanoe Valley squad highlighted the first round with a 14-9 win over Alexandria Thursday night. Valley will take on either Peru or Rossville, their game was rained out Friday night. Valley’s game is tentatively slated for 3 p.m. On the other side of the bracket, Russiaville beat Manchester 16-6 and Northwestern topped North Judson 6-4 in the double elimination tourney. The action continues through Monday night’s championship.
At Oak Hill, weather allowed just three of the four games to be completed. NorthWood will have to scramble if it wants to win a title in the 10U tourney after losing 7-6 to Alexandria Thursday night. The Panthers will face the loser of the Plymouth versus Rossville, which did not finish in Converse. That game will pick up Saturday morning. In the top half of the Oak HIll draw, Flora beat Rochester 14-3 and Oak Hill topped North Miami 8-1.
At Monticello, Fairfield have two teams alive. The Blue squad beat Flora to advance in the winner’s bracket while the Gold squad lost to Madison-Grant. Fairfield Blue will meet Williamsport while Fairfield Gold will get Delphi after Delphi lost to Plymouth.
