Claypool Town Board Discusses Outdoor Events With Someplace Else Saloon
CLAYPOOL — New business at this month’s Claypool Town Board meeting held Tuesday, July 17, included the discussion of outdoor events hosted by Someplace Else Saloon.
Ken Archer was present at the meeting to talk with board members about the possibility of closing part of Main Street to host tractor, car and bike shows. He also asked about regulations regarding live bands and food vendors.
Board President Niki Miller said the board must be given more specific information on potential events, including dates, times, duration and parking.
“Obviously these types of events would bring people to town, but we need to know more information,” said Miller.
The board said they would consider amending the town’s noise ordinance if live bands performed at the events. The events would not be happening weekly, and music would end around 10 or 11 p.m.
“We just really want to bring something in for the community to do,” said Archer.
In old business, the board decided to add a new section to an ordinance regarding checks that are returned as non-sufficient funds. If two or more checks written by a citizen in a six month time period are returned due to non-sufficient funds, future bills can only be paid with cash or a money order.
The board also voted to approve an ordinance for a water rate increase that will go into effect January 2019. These rate ordinances are placed every five years. The board decided to look into creating an ordinance regarding a fine for citizens who are occupying homes that are unkept.
For the month of June, officers with the Claypool Police Department responded to 167 calls for service and 13 ordinance violations. Nine drug arrests were made.
