Vision First Recognizes Efforts Of Coroner’s Office
INDIANAPOLIS — The Kosciusko County Coroner’s Office received an award from Vision First (Indiana Lions Eye Bank) during the Indiana State Coroner’s Association Annual In-service Conference. The conference was held in Indianapolis.
Kosciusko County was one of three counties in the state to receive the award. Kosciusko County Coroner Tony Ciriello accepted the award during the conference awards banquet.
The award is presented for the county’s efforts in assisting and facilitating with cornea donations for corneal transplant. The local coroner’s office is dedicated to assisting families who have lost a loved one and working with them so others may received the gift of donation.
In the United States there are approximately 47,000 corneal transplants that take place every year to help restore sight to those who suffer from corneal disease.
