NewMarket Hosts Fundraiser For Syracuse Food Pantry
SYRACUSE — Syracuse Food Pantry, in cooperation with the NewMarket grocery stores in Syracuse and North Webster, will conduct a food donation and fundraiser during the stores’ hours, 6 a.m to midnight Thursday, July 12.
“This is a big fundraiser for us,” said Arlene Glover, director of the food pantry. “We are nonprofit and take no money from the government, so we couldn’t have been open for these 16 years if it weren’t for the community, patrons and volunteers.
“We are fortunate we can reach so many people in need because of the community’s support,” she said.
Shoppers can purchase goods and donate them at the stores or make a monetary donation at the customer service counter.
Look for the light blue plastic barrels at the North Webster store or the metal bin at the Syracuse outlet. Representatives of the food pantry will be on hand throughout the day to receive food and monetary donations.
On Friday, July 13th, the Watermelon Queen will make an appearance from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the Syracuse location and 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. in North Webster. Watermelons will be on sale and all proceeds will be given to the food pantry. Food and monetary donations may also be made during the stores’ business hours Friday.
NewMarket will match all money donations.
