Kosciusko
Officers with the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department investigated the following accidents:
9:29 p.m. Sunday, July 8, South CR 350E, near East Wilcox Road, Warsaw. Driver: Darren G. Young, 48, South CR 350E, Warsaw. Young was traveling south on South CR 350E when a deer entered the roadway. Damage up to $2,500.
3:50 p.m. Sunday, July 8, South SR 25, north of West CR 200S, Warsaw. Drivers: Ryan K. McLaughlin, 37, Wooster Road, Winona Lake; and Phillip W. Burman, 27, North West Street, Warsaw. McLaughlin was traveling north on SR 25 when he didn’t slow for traffic, causing him to rear-end Burman’s vehicle. McLaughlin was operating a motorcycle and sustained an internal head injury. He was transported from the scene by Lutheran Air Ambulance. Damage up to $25,000.
6:08 p.m. Saturday, July 7, South Country Club Road, north of East CR 600S, Claypool. Driver: Angela D. Cox, 43, Bay View Drive, Warsaw. Cox was traveling south on South Country Club Road when a deer entered the roadway. Her vehicle impacted a tree just off the roadway. Cox sustained seat belt burns and complained of pain from the abrasions but did not want medical treatment. Damage up to $10,000.
2:17 p.m. Saturday, July 7, East Kilmer Drive, east of North Old SR 15, Milford. Driver: Kevin P. Geisel, 59, Mossy Lane, Mishawaka. Geisel was traveling west on Kilmer Road when he pulled into the path of a northbound Norfolk and Souther train. Geisel’s vehicle was struck by the train and pushed off the east side of the track. Geisel was pronounced deceased on the scene. Damage up to $100,000.
11:08 a.m. Saturday, July 7, West CR 1050N, west of North CR 725W, Nappanee. Driver: Lamar J. Slabaugh, 18, West CR 1350N, Nappanee. Slabaugh was traveling east on CR 1050N when his vehicle went off the right side of the roadway and struck the far side of an irrigation ditch. Slabaugh sustained a severe injury to his right leg and potential internal injuries. He was flown by Samaritan Air Ambulance to Memorial Hospital in South Bend. Damage up to $5,000.
9:16 a.m. Friday, July 6, Lake City Highway, near East CR 200N, Warsaw. Drivers: James J. Conley, 59, East Main Street, Warsaw; and Jesse Allen, 52, North CR 625W, Milford. Allen was traveling east on US 30, waiting to make a right turn. When Allen’s vehicle inched forward, Conley stated that he thought Allen’s vehicle was proceeding. Conley’s vehicle rear-ended Allen’s. Damage up to $5,000.
Pierceton
Officers with the Pierceton Police Department investigated the following accident:
4:40 p.m. Tuesday, July 3, East US 30, east of Arnolt Drive, Pierceton. Drivers: Jesse J. Carlton, 40, Rain Drop Circle, Granger; and Cailynn M. Beck, 19, Barlow Road, Westerville, OH. Both vehicles were traveling east on US 30 near construction in the area with a left lane closure. Beck stated that traffic slowed rapidly, causing her to put on her brakes. Carlton’s vehicle rear-ended Beck’s vehicle. Damage up to $10,000.
Warsaw
Officers with the Warsaw Police Department investigated the following accidents:
11:18 p.m. Saturday, July 7, East Winona Avenue, west of South Park Avenue, Warsaw. Drivers: Pavan K. Agarwal, 25, Briar Ridge Circle, Warsaw; and Tristan J. Frye, 19, Westwood Road, Winona Lake. Both vehicles were in traffic waiting on a southbound train. Frye’s vehicle slow backed into Agarwal’s vehicle. Damage up to $1,000.
2:09 p.m. Saturday, July 7, 570 West CR 300N, Warsaw. Driver: Jasmine L. Hoskins, 28, Jefferson Street, Cromwell. Hoskins was backing out of a parking space when she struck a parked and unoccupied vehicle. Damage up to $2,500.
8:41 p.m. Friday, July 6, East Center Street, near North Parker Street, Warsaw. Drivers: Gregory J. Cobb, 61, East Greystone Drive, Warsaw; and Tarah E. Gearin, 18, South CR 775W, Warsaw. Cobb was traveling east on East Center Street when he entered the left turn lane. He didn’t see Gearin’s vehicle in the turn lane. Damage up to $5,000.
8:37 p.m. Friday, July 6, East Center Street, north of SR 15, Warsaw. Drivers: Edward G. Wynn, 84, South Shoup Street 130, Angola; and Emily M. Sandberg, 22, East Winona Beach Drive, Warsaw. Sandberg was traveling west on East Center Street when she entered an intersection. Wynn’s vehicle struck Sandberg’s. Damage up to $2,500.
Winona Lake
Officers with the Winona Lake Police Department investigated the following accident:
4:20 a.m. Sunday, July 8, Fort Wayne Street, south of Park Avenue, Winona Lake. Drivers: Ismael C. Nino, 22, East Levi Lee Road 176, Warsaw; and Philip A. Leeka, 29, Middle Street, Wabash. Nino was backing out of a parking spot when he struck Leeka’s passing vehicle. Damage up to $5,000.
