Lake Tippecanoe Flotilla Has ‘Star Wars’ Theme

The Roberts family had the second place entry.
LEESBURG — A total of 13 boats registered for this year’s Lake Tippecanoe Flotilla, held Saturday afternoon, July 7. The theme was “Star Wars Past and Present: May the 4th Be With You.”
The flotilla started at 1 p.m. in Patona Bay and went around the lake. Winning first place was the small boat entry of Russell Arnold with a big red “Star Wars” flag. The Roberts family won second place and taking third was the Suzanne Lyon entry with storm troopers.
Cash prizes, the specific amounts undisclosed, were awarded to the first, second and third place winners. A minimum of $25 was given to every entry regardless of whether they placed in the top three.
Dan Drook, this year’s judge, noted there were eight boats actually showing up for the flotilla out of the 13 registered. The wind may have been a factor in some of the entries not participating, he said.
The flotilla is an annual event organized by the Lake Tippecanoe Property Owners Association.
Drook was assisted in judging by Shane Lenon.
