Bertha L. Parker — UPDATED
Bertha L. “Bert” Parker, 92, Syracuse, (formerly of Barbee Lake area), passed away at 1:20 a.m., Tuesday, June 19, 2018, at Miller’s Merry Manor in Syracuse. She was born on July 18, 1925, in New Paris, to Frank B. and Bertha L. (Hoshaw) Method.
She lived most of her life in Elkhart and Kosciusko counties except for three years that she lived near Columbus, Ohio and attended New Paris High School. On March 17, 1968, in Fort Wayne, she married Francis M. “Frank” Parker III who preceded her on June 5, 2008. She was a homemaker and formerly worked at Memcor in Nappanee.
She formerly attended North Webster Church of God and Warsaw Community Church. She was a former member of the American Legion Auxiliary Post #253.
She is survived by her daughter, Sandy Toney, Nappanee; four sons: Russell (Sue) McDonald, Nappanee; Mike (Barbara) McDonald, Strawtown; Scott (Kathy) Parker, Warsaw; and Frank (Barbara) Parker IV, Warsaw; 13 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren; and seven great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded by her parents, husband, grandson, great grandson, four sisters: Faye Kauffman, Delva Stahly, Dorothy Stahly and Eloise Meeks; five brothers: Guy, Russell, Glen, Floyd, and twin brother, Frank Method.
Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. on Friday, June 22, at Owen Family Funeral Home, 1001 S. Huntington St., Syracuse. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 23, in the funeral home with Pastor Kent Butcher of the Vineyard Community Church officiating. Burial will follow at the Baintertown Cemetery near New Paris.
