SYRACUSE — A total of 22 teams descended on South Shore Golf Course June 4, as the course played host to the 26th annual Beaman Home Golf Scramble.
The teams of Nextremity Solutions, Bartel Printing, and Midwest Poultry all finished the scramble with scores of 16-under 56. The Nextremity Solutions team made up of Rod Mayer, Tad Nieter, Ryan Schlotterback and Shane Hartle was ultimately awarded first place after a tie-breaker was determined, and the foursome received a prize package including 18 holes at South Shore and a $50 Visa card. Bartel Printing was determined the runner-up, and team members Murray Bartel, Mike LaLonde, Chris LaLonde and Nick Anglemeyer received a $25 gift card to Orthocity Brewery & Smokehouse and a dozen golf balls for their second-place finish.
Other prize-winners were Bill Zimmer and Shelley Shilling in the longest drives competition, Mark Overhiser in the longest putt contest, and Kal Denlinger in the closest to the pin competition.
All teams had options to pay for mulligans and other creative ways to further the advancement of their ball at the feel-good scramble. Bowen Center sponsored a hole where golfers paid to advance a remote-control car to improve their tee-off position. At the end of the day, Bowen Center employees presented Beaman Home with $837 raised by their RC challenge. All players were also given a chance to win an all-terrain vehicle sponsored by Kerlin Motorsports for a hole in one.
