Indiana All-Star Squads Best Kentucky
INDIANAPOLIS – The Indiana All-Star basketball teams both collected wins over Kentucky Saturday night.
The stars from the Hoosier State earned a split on both the boys and girls side with victories in the final games of the annual two-game series.
The Indiana boys team topped Kentucky 109-81 and the girls started the evening with an 83-70 win in action at Bankers Life Fieldhouse.
The boys team bounced back from a 100-89 loss in Kentucky Friday night. The Hoosiers entered the series this weekend with a 96-43 all-time edge in wins and had won 27 of the previous 30 meetings. The last time the Indiana boys lost both games in the series was back in 1986.
Indiana regrouped in a big way Saturday. The hosts blitzed to a 56-30 halftime lead in dominating the contest from the start.
Romeo Langford, the Mr. Basketball from New Albany, led the way. The Indiana University recruit scored 22 points to lead six players in double figures for Indiana. He also added eight rebounds.
Former South Bend Riley star Damezi Anderson had 10 points. Anderson, who is also bound for play at IU, played 18 minutes.
Langford had 17 points and Anderson four in the loss in Kentucky Friday night.
The Indiana girls team lost 92-87 in Kentucky in their opener Friday night.
