BREAKING — Two Hurt In Saturday Morning Crash
WARSAW — Two drivers were hurt on SR 15 early Saturday morning, June 2, when a black Ford pickup truck and a white box truck hauling a barbecue cooker collided head-on at the intersection of SR 15 and CR 400N between Warsaw and Leesburg.
At approximately 4:44 a.m., Kosciusko County dispatch called on units from Warsaw and Plain Township to respond to a two-vehicle crash and advised first responders to approach the accident from the south as the north approach had been blocked by the wreckage.
According to the investigating officer at the scene from the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department, both drivers were conscious before being transported to nearby hospitals. The accident is still being investigated. The investigating officer said he believes the box truck was headed southbound toward Warsaw and that both vehicles had been traveling on SR 15 at the time of the accident.
First responders at the scene initially called out helicopter support for the accident. However, due to weather-related complications, the pilots reported delays and first responders decided instead to send the victims by ambulance. The first victim was extricated at 4:59 a.m. and the second was rescued from the vehicle at 5:06 a.m.
Warsaw Police Department and Warsaw Fire Department assisted in the accident.
