Kosciusko
Officers with the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department investigated the following accidents:
3:49 p.m. Tuesday, May 22, SR 25, west of CR 1000W, Mentone. Drivers: Seth Baird, 18, A Street, Rochester; and Patricia Utter, 84, CR 700E, Rochester. Baird started to turn his vehicle left into a business, which was also into the path of Utter’s vehicle. The two vehicles collided. Damages up to $5,000.
3:09 a.m. Sunday, May 20, SR 25, south of Ferguson Road, Warsaw. Driver: Roberto Cervantes, 22, Levi Lee Road, Warsaw. Cervantes was traveling south on SR 25. The vehicle left the roadway, struck several signs, hit a utility pole and rolled across a yard. The vehicle came to rest into a shed, destroying the shed and the front door. Cervantes and two passengers were ejected from the vehicle. One passenger, Andrew Matthews, 21, Leesburg, was able to get to the roadway and flag down help. It was noted that Matthews told the officer, “I thought he was okay to drive.” A blood draw from Cervantes was taken at the scene, the results of which are pending. Cervantes and the third passenger, Lindsey Tatum, 23, Warsaw, were flown from the scene by Lutheran Air. Matthews was transported to the hospital by EMS. Damages up to $50,000.
