UPDATE: One Airlifted, Utility Pole Snapped
MILFORD — Pedro Castro, 50, Etna Green, suffered serious lower extremity injuries in a single vehicle crash Monday afternoon, May 14. He was airlifted to Lutheran Hospital, Fort Wayne. Castro, a passenger in the vehicle, was trapped in the vehicle until he was able to be extricated by firefighters.
Pedro M. Castro Jr., 21, Etna Green, the driver, sustained minor injuries to his arms and torso in the crash. He was taken to Kosciusko Community Hospital, Warsaw, for treatment.
The accident occurred at approximately 1:13 p.m. on CR 900N at CR 425W, near Milford. The incident involved a westbound 2001 Pontiac Montana van that exited the northern edge of the roadway causing the driver to loose control. Once off the roadway the van traveled the ditch line and began to roll when it struck a utility pole, near the intersection.
Officers stated Tuesday morning the crash is still under investigation.
The Kosciusko County Fatal Team was assisted at the scene by members of the Lutheran EMS, Lutheran Air Ambulance, Leesburg/Plain Township Fire Department, Milford Fire Department and the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department.
