Warsaw Golf: Tigers Take Title At Brownsburg
BROWNSBURG – The Warsaw boys golf team turned in a championship performance Saturday.
The Tigers claimed the title of the Brownsburg Invitational held at the West Chase Golf Club.
Warsaw shot a 306 to edge the hosts, who finished at 307. Plainfield was third at 310.
Junior Chase Byron posted his season-best round to pace the Tigers to the title as he shot 73.
Luke Delp fired a 76 and Sam eager a 78 for the champions. Jacob LaLonde came in with a 79 and Tommy Meier shot 83 for the Tigers.
It was the second title of the week for coach Rich Haddad’s squad. Warsaw won the title of its own Joe Harris Shootout last Tuesday at Rozella Ford.
Kasey Lilly earned individual medalist honors with a four-under round of 67.
Tri-West was fourth in the team standings at 316. Chatard was fifth at 329, followed by Danville (361), Hamilton Heights (375) and Cloverdale (391).
Warsaw opens Northern Lakes Conference play versus Elkhart Memorial and Plymouth on Tuesday night at the Christiana Creek Country Club in Elkhart.
The Warsaw junior varsity boys golf team finished third in its own invitational at Rozella Ford Saturday.
Zionsville shot a 309 to win the team title in the 14-team field. Penn was second at 320 with Warsaw third at 357.
Zach LaLonde led the JV Tigers with a 76 to finish as individual runner-up.
Tucker Carlile and Cole Voss each shot 90 for Warsaw with Noah Pequignot at 101 and Mason Whitaker at 114. Bryce Welk competed as an individual and shot 131 for the Tigers.
