WCSC Food Services Director Earns Top Award
WARSAW — Marci Franks, Warsaw Community School Corporation’s director of food services has won the Indiana School Nutrition Association Director of the Year award. The award was announced in conjunction with School Lunch Hero Day by the Indiana School Nutrition Association.
“To help enhance the National School Lunch Program to students and parents, Marci has met with school PTOs and student focus groups and has brought in vendors for student led food show/tasting events,” said the ISNA in a press release. “Marci also invites parents and students to a back to school summer food show that showcases new products, and asks for student input. These student-led opportunities have led to menu enhancements that expand our menu offerings and student taste buds.”
On Friday, May 4, schools nationwide will celebrate school nutrition professionals for their dedication to expanding access to healthy school meals.
“School nutrition professionals play such an important role in student success, providing nutritious meals to fuel their busy days and a warm, welcoming cafeteria environment,” said Martha Silverthorn, ISNA president. “The dedication and passion of these award winners is a testament to the work being done by school nutrition professionals across our state.”
The following state award winners will be honored at the ISNA Annual Conference in Indianapolis, on Saturday, Nov. 10. Additionally, the director and manager of the year will also be recognized in July during the red-carpet awards ceremony at the national School Nutrition Association’s Annual National Conference in Las Vegas, Nev.
